Coke Studio Africa

Concept development, events, TV format

For the then vice president of Coca-Cola International in Atlanta, Georgia, TransCity wrote a plan for a pan-African music show, in partnership with Atlanta-based Interglobe Concepts (United Sounds of Africa).

This concept resulted in a pan-African version of Coke Studio, in which the TV format focused not on one country but on an entire continent. Coca-Cola South Africa was in the lead, but the artists performing in the new Coke Studio Africa come from all over the continent: from Ethiopia to Nigeria, from South Africa to Congo, sometimes supplemented by special guests from outside of Africa. Among other things, mash-ups of songs and artists from different African and sometimes non-African countries were chosen.

Below is an example of a performance by Jason Derulo from the US with Rayvanny from Tanzania, Dela Maranga-Mwendwa from Kenya and Bebe Cool from Uganda, as well as a performance by Yemi Alade from Nigeria and Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania.

More examples can be seen on Coke Studio Africa's YouTube-page.
