Research

In 2006, TransCity and Motivaction took the initiative to conduct a media reach survey among Turkish, Moroccan, Surinamese and Caribbean Dutch citizens, as a supplement to the widely accepted KO, NLO and NOM national media research.

The first survey took place in 2007. The survey was then repeated every two years. In 2022, the eighth edition of this large-scale survey has been published.

Previous editions increasingly revealed that:

  • The media consumption of bicultural Dutch differs substantially from that of native Dutch.
  • People with bicultural backgrounds recognize themselves less in Dutch media.
  • Appreciation for the national Dutch media is lower than among native Dutch.

The surveys are largely funded by participants who have their own questions included. They are reported on separately. The results of the media questions are available to all participants.

Below is a fictitious sample page from the comprehensive media report that participants receive.
