Commissioned by the National Police in the Netherlands and in collaboration with FunX radio, Dreamers Inc. and TransCity developed four special infomercials aimed at bicultural youth in 2021 and 2022. The infomercials were voiced by Chief of Police Central Netherlands Martin Sitalsing, Brigadier Cleve Hewitt and youth officers Aicha Boumni and Cemal Özdemir.
The infomercials emphasize the importance that the police attaches to an inclusive work environment. In doing so, they do not 'run away' from the fact that discrimination, racism and ethnic profiling by the police sometimes occurs. At the same time, it is made clear that the police wants to eradicate this – whereever it happens - and that bicultural Dutch can play an important role in this.
Furthermore, the social component within the police force is especially emphasized in the infomercials, a component that appears to be particularly appealing among bicultural youth.
The appeal of the infomercials has also been tested among bicultural youth, with very favorable results.
